Identifies your market

One of the main problems of the companies that open their doors to the public for the first time, is not to have a bad product, many times, is excellent, however, in many cases fail to take off because they fail to identify his pubic.

In a quick example, it is as if a company dedicated to the sale of dogs food, approached its advertising in ads and messages dedicated to cats owner´s.

Although it sounds ridiculous, is a very common problem, for that the importance of identifying the target audience suitable for your product or service.

But who is our target audience, our market, is a group of people who want and/or need what we can offer and, for this reason, will be more likely to buy our products or to hire our services.

Any brand or professional must know what is they market, so that all the efforts and investments that you make with regard to advertising, marketing and other means of dissemination, reach the persons listed and are not lost in limbo. Not only do we have to know that we are going to say, but also to who and where you say it.

To identify our target audience is not difficult, however, there are a few new companies, and even those that already have a certain amount of time in the market, with people who dont take the time to discover if their strategies are reaching the right people.´

The first thing is to identify the needs that cover our products or services, and from there to define the characteristics of our potential customers, taking into account always: Age, gender, income level, studies, purchasing habits, occupation or profession, marital status, family situation (or without children), geographic location, ethnic group, affiliations or political leanings, hobbies and interests.

While not should always take all these parameters, but it´s necessary to determine what are the most important, and try to be as emphatic in these points.

For example, if you want to sell a product for home cleaning, the target audience will be the housewives; the age range can be determined with the statistics of units such as the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI in spanish), to know that age range women begin to have children in our town.

With these two simple factors, the strategy of advertising can have a 180 degree turn, since it is not the same sell cleaning products to women 30 to 40 years, that housewives of 20 to 30, this can be the difference between a lot of gain and little investment, or high investment and very little gain.
